According to a report by 9to5Google, the leaked information about Meta's smartwatch was spotted by Bloomberg. The source says that the wearable device sports a set of pill-shaped buttons.

Additionally, the smartwatch is said to be running on Android. Its side rails are so noticeable that they resemble the rails of the Phone 12 or 13 models.

For its camera, the leak suggests that its front-facing camera features a 5MP sensor while its rear camera is 12 MP. What's more, is that you can remove this wearable from its frame. However, its conflicting design is what makes Meta decide to ditch it.

"The second camera was designed so users could remove the watch face from its strap to quickly take pictures. But the presence of the camera caused issues with another feature for translating nerve signals from the wrist into digital commands, the person said. Having that technical ability, known as electromyography, is a top priority for Meta," the leak says.

Furthermore, Bloomberg wrote that the dual-camera smartwatch has a notification center and a lock screen. You can access a wide range of apps, including Instagram and Spotify, aside from its health features for breathing, heart rate monitoring, and more.

The canceled smartwatch has the stage name "Milan." According to 9to5Google, if Meta undid its decision to abandon this product, we could have probably seen it in the spring of 2023.

Meta Stops Smartwatch Development

Amid several rumors about this smartwatch, it seems that Meta won't push through its production, CNET mentions in its latest report.

Facebook's parent firm came up with the decision to halt the development of this wearable product. At the time, the source said that the smartwatch's price could sit at about $400.

At one point, the tech company wanted to incorporate this dual-camera smartwatch into its augmented-reality smart glasses.

Although the firm has already finalized that the product would not be released, it said that the "multiple other wrist-worn devices" are currently in development. This could be the potential answer of Meta to the growing metaverse and VR trends at the moment.

Meta Ticker Coming Soon

In other news, Meta has recently announced that the famous "FB" ticker would no longer appear on the search engine. The iconic social media symbol that made its way in 2012 will go away soon.

Instead of this trademark, the firm will now use the "META" symbol. According to CNN, the company is now transitioning into the AR and VR experience to bring evolutionary change to the social media industry.
