Facebook Gaming has added Crayta, a platform that looks like a cross between Roblox and Fortnite. Crayta is built on Unreal Engine 4 that hosts thousands of player-made games that users can add to with their own creations.
Moreover, Crayta has rotating seasons, like a battle pass that lets users personalize their avatars. One of the best things about Crayta is that players can share a game with just a link to let other players hop right in from their browser.
Crayta is a part of Meta's acquisition of Unit 2, which is the studio behind Crayta. Initially, Crayta was introduced in 2020 exclusively for Google Stadia, but later on, it expanded to PC through the Epic Games Store.
Now that Crayta is available on Facebook Gaming, users don't need to download the game or play through Stadia. It is now a free-to-play game hosted by the social platform. All you need is an account to get started (and it's likely you already have one).
According to Marck Zuckerberg, "A lot of times today, people think about the metaverse as 3D experiences you can have in virtual and augmented reality, but I think what Xrayta shows is that you can both build and enjoy these kind of experiences really easily on all kinds of 2D environments including just within the Facebook App on phones and on computers."

Being at the Center of the Metaverse
The metaverse is the universe of virtual worlds that are all interconnected.
It's apparent that Meta really wants to be at the center of it all. Just recently, it acquired Oculus and then rebranded its name to Meta. Although Crayta may seem like a small investment for the company, it remains to be significant on its journey to establish itself as a metaverse company.
Last year, Zuckerberg laid out the company's vision of the metaverse through the improvement of their virtual and augmented reality, such as the Horizon Home, which helps people create and interact with each other in the metaverse.
The company also launched Messenger support in VR that allows users to send a quick message to other users from inside the headset. Moroever, they announced that Rockstar Games classic Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is in development for Quest 2. They also showed a number of new games and updates that are coming soon.
Even with these improvements, Meta still has a lot of things to build before they get to the metaverse property. However, with these changes and improvements, it's not impossible for Meta to be at the center of it all. And with the addition of Crayta, Facebook Gaming shows that its continuing its mission to make games more accessible.
