Samsung is leveling up with its devices by rolling out new features, especially for its cameras. The new camera upgrade will be applied to the Galaxy S22, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3.
Upgrade of Camera Features
According to XDA Developers, the Korean phone manufacturer will add the Auto Framing feature in its Galaxy's video recording mode.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Flip 3 owners will get auto picture adjustment.for video calling apps and video mode updates.
Samsung will also enhance the low light portrait mode algorithm of its Galaxy Fold 3, and users of the Fold 3 can utilize the lens telephoto lens in Pro mode.
The software update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 has the firmware version F711BXXU2CVEB, while the update for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 has the firmware version F926BXXU1CVEB.
The new updates are now rolling out worldwide for the international variants of the foldable series. Samsung did not ship the latest June 2022 security patches, which means that the devices are on the May 2022 SPL even after the new updates.
Samsung's 5G Network in Malaysia
Aside from rolling out updates for its camera features, Samsung is also slowly activating the 5G network support for its devices in different countries.
According to Soyacincau, the Digital Nasional Berhad or DNB released a list of 83 smartphones that are compatible with the 5G network. The list includes a couple of Samsung devices, such as the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
For now, Yes 5G is the only telecommunications company that offers commercial 5G services in Malaysia. The support list of the company shows that there are 11 Samsung smartphones that will work with 5G.
The previous foldables like the first and second-generation Galaxy Fold, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and Galaxy Z Flip are still not supported yet.
For those currently using a Yes 5G SIM and a compatible Samsung device, you'll need to download a software update before your smartphone can connect to the 5G network.
DNB has also clarified that they do not approve 5G devices. The certification for devices is done by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission or MCMC, and device makers would need to push their firmware updates, so they are compatible with the 5G network.
Samsung's 1TB Foldable Phone
GSMArena also reported that the Korean tech giant is planning to release a Galaxy Z Fold 3 version with 1TB of storage.
That is double the maximum storage of the original Galaxy Z Fold 3, and it would cover even those who wish to hoard digital content on their phones, like pictures and videos.
It is not yet clear what the pricing for the device will be, but for reference, the 512GB model of Galaxy Fold 3 costs around $1,899. If it is around that price range, it is possible that the 1TB model may cost around $1,999, $2,049, or $2,099.
The storage amount of the Fold 3 is important because it does not have a microSD feature, so it can compensate for the lack of a card slot.
