Thanks to a wildly popular movie, some Academy Award nominations and some guy who offends people for a living, you've probably heard of Chief Petty Officer Chris Kyle. He was the most lethal sniper in American history, having served as part of SEAL Team 3 through numerous tours in Iraq.
With so much talk about the movie American Sniper, which is based on Kyle's own autobiography, you can't help wondering how Kyle himself would react to all this attention. Sadly, we'll never know, as he was killed at a shooting range in 2013.
But we do have evidence of what his personality was like in real life. Back in February of 2012, Chris Kyle appeared on Conan O'Brien's show to promote his book. With Conan being a comedy show, the conversation never gets too heavy (unlike the book and the movie), but it's pretty fascinating to get a little slice of what this "legend" was like.
Seemed like a good guy, yeah? He even tries to downplay his own accolades.
Michael Moore thinks that because he's a sniper, Kyle doesn't qualify as a hero. Back in 2012, Conan quite clearly thought that he was a hero.
What's your opinion?
