Diablo Immortal is almost here, but developer Blizzard reveals new features that fans should look out for.
As many of you already know, Diablo Immortal is coming to your mobile phones and your PC, which means playing it will be a bit different (if you do download it on iOS or Android).
Blizzard is prepared for this with its accessibility features. One of the things Blizzard made clear is controller support, which will be pivotal to the game.
"You will be able to play Diablo Immortal with controllers on both mobile devices and on PC. Many controls-including skills, accessing chat, and more-can be remapped from the controller tab of the setting menu, "the developer wrote on its blog.
It was in 2018 when Diablo Immortal was announced at the BlizzCon 2018 by game designer, Wyatt Cheng, which received a lot of boos that turned into memes and mockery.
Since then, the mobile game boosted its reputation as alpha and beta tests showed the game was a full-throated, classic Diablo experience.
In a recent interview, "I do believe Diablo Immortal is going to change a lot of people's minds on what they think of as a mobile game. That was one of our goals since the beginning. Let's elevate the standards for what people can expect from a mobile game," he told The Washington Post.
Razer Kishi Controller On the Way
To test out the controller support, Blizzard will be sending Diablo Immortal reviewers with a Razer Kishi controller that will turn phones into a Switch or Steam Deck-like apparatus.
However, the developer made it clear that the controllers are not intended to encourage controller play. They made it clear that the mouse, keyboard, touchscreen, etc. and still great options to play the game.
Native Voice Chat Transcription and Text-to-Speech Function
Aside from the controller option, native voice chat transcription and text-to-speech functions are also coming to the new Blizzard game.

Reaching As Many Players As Possible
The main goal of Diablo Immortal is to reach as many players as possible. However, the decision to release a free-to-play mobile game has received some backlash initially.
According to Joe Grubb, a principal game designer, "it was very much an accessibility option." The decision to have the game on mobile will allow players to play on more visible screens with keyboards that could be remapped to suit everybody's needs.
The Diablo series remains one of the most influential in modern game design. Diablo Immortal will release on June 2 on Android, iOS, and PC.
