The international health agency decided to say yes to China's new one-shot coronavirus vaccine after the medicine met its health standards.
"Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued an emergency use listing (EUL) for CONVIDECIA, a vaccine manufactured by CanSino Biologics," said WHO via its official news release.
The World Health Organization that Convidecia has been added to the growing COVID-19 vaccine portfolio.
CanSinoBIO COVID-19 Vaccine
According to The StraitTimes' latest report, the COVID-19 vaccine of CanSinoBIO, a Chinese vaccine manufacturer, is a single-shot coronavirus medicine.
This means that patients only need to have one vaccine jab. It is also the third Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccine that received WHO's authorization.
When it comes to efficiency, it is 92% effective against severe COVID-19 symptoms. Meanwhile, Convidecia has a 64% efficacy against symptomatic disease.
The World Health Organization explained that Convidecia was approved since it meets the vaccine standards it implements. This means that CanSinoBIO-manufactured medicine's benefits outweigh the risks.
As of writing, WHO said that patients aged 18 and above could already take the new COVID-19 vaccine. CanSinoBIO is already rolling out its new product in Argentina, Malaysia, Mexico, Pakistan, Chile, and China.
Convidecia as a New Vaccine Under WHO's EUL

These include Pfizer/BioNTech, AstraZeneca, Janssen, Moderna, Sinovac, Sinopharm, Bharat Biotech, and Novavax. But, thanks to the performance of Convidecia, it is now among the vaccines under WHO's EUL.
