OVR Technology, a Vermont-based virtual reality developer, decided to work on a new metaverse that focuses on smell.
Thanks to its OVR (Olfactory Virtual Reality) headset, people can smell what is within the new digital olfactory exhibit, "Living With Scents."
OVR Technology partnered with other companies and design firms to make the new smell-based metaverse. These include Randolph Designs, a San Francisco-based designing environmental design studio.
"The focus of Living with scents will be on objects, not just scented products, but creative and artful interfaces to deliver scents with manifold design outcomes," said MCD (Museum of Craft and Design) via Living With Scents' official website.
OVR Technology's Metaverse for Smell
According to Fast Company's latest report, the new Living With Scents digital olfactory museum works with OVR Technology's wearable device.

OVR's CEO, Aaron Wisniewski, said that scent should be a part of metaverse development, claiming that smell is one of the major factors that affect how people feel.
The olfactory VR headset of the tech firm works just like other VR gadgets. However, this one has the so-called snap-n-scent cartridge with chemical compounds creating an artificial smell.
Once you use to insert this cartridge into the OVR device, it will automatically copy the scent created by the metaverse object in real life.
For example, if you go near a virtual strawberry in the Living With Scents museum, you can also smell the berry's real scent.
Can You Visit OVR's Olfactory Exhibit?
As of writing, the Living With Scents digital museum is not yet open to the public because of COVID-19 restrictions. But, you can still see the 3D Tour of the smell-based metaverse exhibit.
If you are one of the interested individuals, just click this link and scroll down until you see the "Take 3D Tour" option. Choose that button and wait for the digital museum to load.
Meanwhile, MGM's VR-based job applications allow applying employees to try their roles without visiting physical offices.
On the other hand, Meta's new robotic eyeball may already be under development.
