Xbox Players Losing Money?

As per a news story by Tom's Guide, a Reddit user, who is also an Xbox gamer, recently shared his experience, wherein he is about to lose $5 from his account.

It comes as a surprise to most Xbox players as they barely even check their accounts from time to time. Instead, most gamers go straight to the game they want to play or check out guides to learn more about these gaming titles.

That said, most users are not even informed that they might be losing some of their money anytime soon.

Thankfully, a Reddit user shared that he discovered that the five bucks in his account are about to expire in the next few months.

The post on the social media platform Reddit carries the title "My money is expiring??" The subreddit thread shared that there is a section in Xbox accounts that exist, which goes by the name "expiring balance."

The poster with the username "Cg6554" disclosed that Microsoft told him in a popup on the expiring balance part of his Xbox account that his $5 credit is going away soon. The popup also notified him that his account balance is already going to expire come July 9.

According to a recent report by Tech Radar, the account balance is used by Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One games to purchase from online Xbox stores.

Microsoft Rewards Credits Expiration

However, it turns out that funds on your Xbox account are not there to last forever. It is akin to your favorite canned good at home, which also expires after some time has passed.

It appears that some users complaining about their expiring credits have no idea that it apparently is fleeting.

Tom's Guide highlighted in its report that Microsoft, in fact, detailed the expiration of its Rewards on its website.

The official Microsoft site reportedly said that its "Rewards point will expire if there are no earning activities within 18 months."

What's more, the tech giant also stated that the $5 promotional credit that users get when they trade their points into vouchers has a short period before it expires. Xbox players need to spend them in the next 90 days or roughly three months.
