The Insulin Pump Therapy Program continues its treatment for Alberta, Canada citizens with Type 1 Diabetes, says a new development in the case. It will not cease its operations and offers for its patients in the region after an appeal to the Health Minister, Jason Copping. The decision overturned the initial plans to stop its program by August 1.
Insulin Pump Therapy Program: Continues Treatment for Alberta, CA
According to CTV News Calgary, the public that suffers from Diabetes in the region should not worry anymore, as the decision to remove the Insulin Pump Therapy Program (IPTP) will not continue anymore. It is after Health Minister, Jason Copping, decided to allow the program to continue for those that suffer from the disease and requires the treatment.
The news heavily centers on Alberta, Canada, as the program ceased to exist in the region, and here, the Health Minister made the announcement recently. The program was supposedly ending on August 1 for all Albertans who rely on the program to regulate their insulin in the body and control their Diabetes and blood sugar.
An appeal and open letter by Diabetes Canada voiced the public's cry, especially those that will get affected by this case. The letter effectively made its way to the Health Minister, and actions were completed.
How Important is Insulin Pump Therapy?
Insulin Pump Therapy is an essential program in Canada's health system as it helps in regulating the blood sugar of a person and effectively distributes it at low costs, or for some cases, free.
Removing the program will result in a person administering the insulin shots depending on the doctor's prescribed maintenance, and it may result in higher costs without the IPTP.
Diabetes and its Many Treatments
Diabetes is one of the many dreadful diseases present in the world, and it may manifest through the genes for Type 1 cases or appear later in life if there is a significant sugar consumption for Type 2 patients. The health technology world developed many tools and programs that may help manage one's Diabetes, which makes a patient's life better.
One of the many treatments for Diabetes is the insulin pump. Some go as far as having surgery to put in an artificial pancreas and help regulate and distribute in the body.
The only downside to an insulin pump is that it is prone to cyberattacks, especially those with a wireless method that will allow them to access the treatment as per the health professionals remotely. J&J previously warned the public of threat actors that focus on overdosing on other patients for an unknown vendetta against them.
Nevertheless, Type 1 Diabetes and its heavy need for insulin regulation rely significantly on the insulin pump therapy that helps in allowing the public to manage their condition better in their day-to-day. The good thing is that Canada's Health Minister decided to overrule the initial decision regarding Diabetes treatment for its citizens.
