iPhone 15 USB-C Transition Might Happen, Says Ming-Chi Kuo; Is This Better Than Lightning Port?

The iPhone 15 USB-C transition might really happen based on Ming-Chi Kuo's prediction. He claimed that the tech giant manufacturer would make a drastic change regarding its smartphone's charging ports.

This means that the charger cables will also be changed. For the past few years, Apple relied on the Lightning charger ports for its mobile devices and other gadgets.

The Lightning port tech is also exclusive to Apple. Since this charger innovation offers better waterproofing, as well as offers both ecosystem and licensing fee control, the tech giant manufacturer prefers to use it.

But, what's forcing Apple to make the USB-C transition?

iPhone 15 USB-C Transition Might Happen, But Why?

According to MacRumors' latest report, Ming-Chi Kuo believes that the new Lightning port transition for iPhone 15 will happen as early as 2023.

He added that there's a chance Apple will make implement this change in all the new iPhone 15 models.

"My latest survey indicates that 2H23 new iPhone will abandon Lightning port and switch to USB-C port. USB-C could improve iPhone's transfer and charging speed in hardware designs," said the reliable Apple analyst via his official Twitter announcement.

Now, some experts claim that Apple is making the USB-C transition because the European Union is pressuring it to do so. Recently, the EU introduced new legislation that requires the iPhone maker to use USB-C tech for its smartphones, as well as AirPods and iPads.

If this legislation is completely passed, the tech firm will have no choice but to integrate the USB-C charging port tech into its gadgets that are sold in the European market.

Is USB-C Port a Better Option?

Of course, USB-C tech offers better connection features compared to Apple's exclusive Lightning port. If the giant iPhone maker starts using USB-C, its smartphones will have faster transfer speeds from accessories, such as cameras.

On the other hand, this connection tech also allows smoother video and photo file transfers. But, there are also some negative effects.

Once Apple removes its Lightning port tech, its gadgets will have less efficient waterproofing features. On the other hand, its MiFi business will also be affected.

Previously, reports stated that the iPhone 13 display production is expected to decrease further.

On the other hand, Apple was fined in Brazil due to the lack of an iPhone charger.
