Because of the billionaire's DP (Display Picturer) change, the new cryptocurrency launched by Yuba Labs, ApeCoin (APE) experienced a value increase.

As of writing, APE's price increased by around 19%, allowing it to have a daily value of $17.64. This new record was achieved thanks to their new Twitter profile, Musk.

But did the billionaire purchase a Bored Ape NFT?

Although the Twitter DP update of Elon allowed Yuba Labs' APE to increase in value, CNBC reported that it is still unclear if Musk actually bought a Bored Ape NFT for himself.

The image used by Elon was confirmed to be for the sale of Sotheby's after the executive of the popular auction house, Michael Bouhanna, asked him to remove his Twitter DP.

"@elonmusk as much I admire your work I'd like you to remove your pfp that I created for our Sotheby's sale. Or you credit me," said Bouhanna.

He also said he would be happy to send the original Bored Ape NFT minted file with the buyer's approval. This shows that Musk didn't purchase any versions of the popular NFT collectibles.

Instead, he just took a screenshot and used it for his official Twitter account.

Elon Musk Makes Fun of NFT

Instead of taking the advice of Michael Bouhanna, he posted a tweet saying that something (most likely NFT) is fungible. Critics claimed that the billionaire's latest tweet is for Bouhanna's post about Musk's Twitter profile change.

For those who are not familiar with NFTs, these digital artworks are not fungible, which means that they can't be exchanged for the same value.

Although Elon used Bored Ape NFTs for his DP without purchasing them, it still helped Yuga Labs' newly launched ApeCoin.

On the other hand, some journalists said that Elon Musk's Twitter authentication plan is a bad idea.

Meanwhile, another Elon Musk Twitter plan is concerning experts since he wants to charge companies for their embedded tweets.
