Mozilla's Firefox 100 Release

Mozilla Foundation, the non-profit org behind the long-time rival of the top web browser Chrome, has reached its milestone update after releasing its version 100, as per a news story by The Register.

The news outlet noted in its report that Mozilla has yet to talk about the latest update of its flagship web browsers, but it is officially available for download.

It appears that Mozilla still does not intend to formally release version 100 of Firefox. Despite that, it is already available on the FTP website of the non-profit org.

In fact, there are various versions of the Firefox 100 for different platforms, such as Linux, Apple's macOS, and Microsoft's Windows. The latter has two options to choose from: either 64-bit or 32-bit.

The Register also took note that the three-digit version of the Mozilla web browser is also available for those who are still running Windows 7. However, it strictly requires them to install a specific Microsoft KB4474419 update before it could be installed.

Firefox 100: What's New?

According to a recent report by the Express United Kingdom, Firefox is celebrating its 100th update with new features for both its desktop and mobile apps.

It turns out that the latest version of the Chrome rival is not only sporting an additional digit on its version number, but it also comes with new features to boast.

It is nearly two decades since Mozilla released its flagship web browser way back in 2004. Yet, the Foundation continues to stuff new exciting features to the delight of its old and new users.

It comes even if Firefox has been struggling to keep up with the popularity of Chrome these days. Not to mention that the built-in browsers, such as Safari and Edge, continue to draw in millions of users as well.

Without any further ado, here are the new features that Firefox 100 has in store for its users, which should help it keep up with other contenders like Chrome.

Mozilla rolls out a new feature that should be handy for avid viewers of giant video streaming platforms, YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video. Firefox 100 adds subtitle support for picture-in-picture playback.

Smartphone users who have Firefox 100 installed should experience better tab handling, as well as a new HTTPS-only mode. There are also new wallpapers for the mobile web browser.
