Apple Studio Display gets its second beta of Firmware 15.5, which seeks to further improve the persisting webcam quality issues that its users have been passionately complaining about since its release.
Apple Studio Display's Webcam
The $1,599 external display of the Cupertino-based tech giant started shipping to its first customers in April.
The Studio Display offered its users an integral part of post-COVID normalcy, a built-in webcam. Its camera flaunts a 12-megapixel sensor, along with an f2.4 ultra-wide snapper, as per a news story by The Verge.
To make it possible, the $1,599 Apple display comes with an A13 chip, which was last seen running the flagship device of the tech giant way back in Sept. 2019, the iPhone 11.
However, what should have been one of the most notable selling points of the all-new $1,599 monitor, its built-in webcam, became a disappointing feature for some.
The dismay of its users is somewhat justified as its built-in webcam takes crappy images due to the issues within its software.
The tech giant told The Verge that the webcam of the Studio Display was actually "behaving as expected." But Apple vowed to improve its quality via a software update.
Studio Display Beta of Firmware Update for Webcam Issues
Apple kept its promise and released the update that was supposed to bring the much-need fix to the quality issues of the Studio Display webcam last week.
Although it did bring some improvements to the built-in webcam, it is not a drastic improvement, which still leaves some issues at hand.
The first beta of the firmware update fixed the noise reduction, improved the overall contrast, and the framing has become wider than ever, The Verge described in its report.

Apple Studio Display's 2nd Beta of Firmware Update
This time around, according to a recent report by 9to5Mac, the second beta of the Studio Display has been released, and it's here to fix more webcam imaging mess that the first one left out.
The second beta of Studio Display Firmware 15.5 comes out along with the release of the new macOS 12.4 beta 3, giving developers a first-hand experience of the webcam fix.
9to5Mac said in its report that the latest firmware update on the Apple monitor has tweaked the sharpness of its built-in webcam. Not to mention that the overall imaging color is now more natural than in the previous update. Plus, its contrast is a bit stronger now.
The latest firmware update for the Studio Display of Apple is now available, but its exclusively meant for developers. So, regular users have yet to get a firmware update for their external display.
To get the latest update, devs only need to make to sure to update to the most recent version of macOS. After which, their webcam should see slight improvements.
