Not 24 hours following a heartfelt Sykkuno Day stream on Sunday, May 1st, 3-year Twitch star and OTV member Sykkuno announces an exclusive broadcasting deal with contending platform YouTube. The 30-year-old Twitch star enjoyed a myriad of acclaim on the platform, first beginning his journey all the way back in 2019, rising into infamy amid both Minecraft and Among Us metas.
The news comes per Sykkuno himself in a social media video blast featuring a minute forty of details surrounding his new home on the red-hued platform. In it, the broadcaster explains away his roots, of which go as far back as his family's backyard shed, highlighting various friends met and games played amidst the years on Twitch.
"I started off playing League, then Minecraft, Valorant, Among Us, GTA. I met some cool people and made some really good friends. And, I met all of you guys," Sykkuno says.
Following this explainer, Sykkuno is no sooner joined by roommate and co-streamer Valkyrae, who re-signed with YouTube Gaming for a multi-year streaming deal in Feb. Valkyrae aptly chimes in, asking if the Twitch star is "ready?" In response, Sykkuno lays bare the brutal news, highlighting that nothing's changing except for his newfound broadcast main hub. Sykkuno himself relays, "I'm going to do what I've always done. Just in a new place."

The 30-year-old Twitch broadcaster, who has accumulated 4 million followers on the platform alone, has proven his commitment to bridge as much joy as possible into his many live streams - so much so that he is even referred to as a "streamer for fun." To the long list of Twitch followers, the news of his departure certainly comes as a major blow, one yet again proving the spiraling nature facing Twitch as a whole.
Sykkuno is next in a long line of avid Twitch stars jumping ship for the YouTube platform, citing most prominently being met with far better contracts than its rival. Last to leave was one of the platform's fastest growing broadcasters, Ludwig, who likewise signed an exclusive deal with YouTube back at the close of November last year.
Before him was Call of Duty extraordinaire TimTheTatman, who alongside Ludwig relayed that Twitch itself failed to realize their importance to the platform. Ludwig also denoted a far better contract from YouTube, which not only featured better pay but more leeway in broadcasting hours, allowing him more time to work on and flesh out additional content.
It's still too early to understand the depths of Sykkuno's decision, but it sure is a timely move. Twitch was noted on Apr. 27th via Bloomberg to be in consideration of new revenue splits for some creators, putting a major damper on both medium and large-name broadcasters as their 70/30 subscription split could well be in jeopardy.
While any official changes still remain in the dark, it's clear that Twitch is losing talent fast. In addition to Valkyrae, Ludwig, and TimTheTatman, several of the most prominent Twitch streamers have left the platform over the years, including CouRageJD, DrLupo, and Dr DisRespect. Although YouTube may be pulling in hefty contenders, Twitch still vies for supremacy in its own internal culture, one that seemingly can't yet be replaced.
Arguably among the biggests names on Twitch, Mizkif, himself relayed that even $10 million wouldn't push him to YouTube, because the platform isn't there yet. Friend and OTK org co-owner Asmongold likewise added in to the conversation, citing that YouTube Gaming "is garbage" and that "Mixer was better than this," referring to discoverability and the overall feel of the platform over Twitch.
