The recently released "Overwatch 2" beta has helped Twitch star xQc break another major viewership record.
According to GameRant, xQc's new personal best is now at 312,158 concurrent stream viewers. This basically smashes his previous record of 278,176 and has boosted his lifetime numbers on the platform to insane heights. As of this writing, he has now earned a total of 525 million views, 609 million watch hours, and 10.6 million followers.
Here is a video snippet of the "Overwatch 2" beta stream where he broke his record:
He is part of the group of other big Twitch streamers who were tasked to do loot drops for the beta. The list, according to Eurogamer, includes other very popular names like Asmongold, Pokimane, and others. Their job was to give other players access to the beta for anyone who watched a total of four hours of the stream.
Either way, this is a great achievement for the Twitch star who used to be a pro "Overwatch" player for the Dallas Fuel. He was a tank main for the Fuel after being signed by the Overwatch League (OWL) ahead of its first season back in October 2017. He was eventually released a year later, at which point he would return to streaming full time.
Though it is also worth noting that before xQc set his new viewership record with the "Overwatch 2" beta, he actually leaked a tiny bit of the game over a month before the beta's release. According to ComicBook.com, the streamer accidentally opened "Overwatch 2" live and launched a test server version of it.
He likely thought he was launching the original game but then realized his mistake, as you can see here. Fortunately, there wasn't anything of the note shown:
'Overwatch 2' Beta Early Thoughts
Considering he used to be a pro "Overwatch" player in the OWL, xQc's thoughts on the beta hold a bit of weight. So here's what he thinks about the game so far, courtesy of Upcomer.
The Twitch star mainly had positive things about the much-anticipated sequel to the popular hero-based shooter. During his first match, he mentioned that the game "feels pretty good" as he explored specific changes to the game's tank heroes like Reinhardt. This is due to his time being a tank main for the Dallas Fuel in the OWL.
One of the changes he was fond of was that of the tank hero Orisa's and the switch for Doomfist now being a tank instead of a damage dealer.
Other reviews of the beta might not have fared as better, but they still had good things to say about it. According to GamesRadar's hands-on, the sequel is "a total blast" and looks gorgeous in terms of visuals, but the game felt like "Overwatch 1.5" instead of a full sequel. In other words, it was more of an update to them than an entirely new game.
