A new rumor has stated that "Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2" is NOT going to come to last-gen consoles, and will only be exclusive to the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
This rumor comes from video game journalist Jeff Grubb, who's earned a reputation for being quite accurate with the information he shares, writes GameRant. Grubb's sources say that the game could be first showcased during the "Star Wars" Celebration for May, scheduled to run from 26-29.
Grubb made the claim when he was asked about the much-anticipated "Jedi Fallen Order" sequel on the latest episode of the Last of the Nintendogs podcast. You can watch the podcast in its entirety, but check the 42:40 mark for Grubb's statement:
In it, he was asked whether the sequel will be next-gen only, to which he responded that he's "pretty sure" it will be. This makes a lot of sense and even gives a hint of the game's overall visual quality and performance, as the 8th generation consoles have been starting to show their age.
More and more games have been making a shift to next-gen exclusivity in recent times. And for this highly anticipated "Star Wars" title, Grubb says that developer Respawn Entertainment are "doubling down" on its current-gen exclusivity (via ComicBook.net).
Considering how EA has confirmed the sequel being in the works from as far back as August 2021, next-gen exclusivity is more or less an extreme possibility now. This is also an indication that 2022 will be the last year for several major, big-budget games to come out on last-gen systems as Sony and Microsoft's new hardware would've been out for two years now.
More Details About 'Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order 2'
Both EA and Respawn have managed to keep their cards close to their chests. As a result, there's barely any confirmed information about the "Jedi Fallen Order" sequel, aside from the fact that it is in active development.
Still, this didn't stop so many leaks from pointing out specific stuff about the game. Here are a few of the most important ones, as shared by PCGamer.
Release date: Many rumors suggest a Holiday 2022 at the earliest. But given that it could be exclusive to the PS5 and the Xbox Series X/S, a 2023 release window sounds a bit more realistic. That's because it will be in the same breath as other big next-gen exclusive games slated for next year.
