At first, the board members of Twitter were against the bid of Musk. However, the billionaire was able to buy Twitter for $44 billion.

"Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated," said Musk via USA Today.

This means that the Tesla CEO is interested in making Twitter a completely free-speech platform. Why are users suddenly deleting their accounts if this is the case?

However, most of them only deleted their accounts permanently. Although Musk said that his intentions are only about free speech, Australia's Digital Rights Watch said that Elon's massive Twitter purchase could lead to some issues.

DRW Chair Lizzie O'Shea explained that there are some instances when social media platforms are required to censor posts.

She added that Elon's free-speech absolutism agenda could affect the current balance on Twitter, claiming that the billionaire only wants to be free from accountability.

Aside from this, O'Shea further explained that Musk's idea could make Twitter an unsafe platform, especially since anyone can share posts and other misleading content or contain disinformation.

Possible Things Elon Will Do To Twitter

Recently, the popular billionaire shared the things he wanted on Twitter. One of these is an edit button. Elon even posted a poll to see how many users like the feature.

Around 73% said "yes" to the Twitter edit button. On the other hand, there could also be the so-called Twitter Blue. One of the benefits that Twitter Blue can offer is no-ad experiences. Of course, users need to pay around $3 per month if they want to have this feature.

Another thing that can happen is the arrival of the Dogecoin payment option on Twitter. Once this happens, it will be strong proof that the platform will soon offer more subscription-based features.

Meanwhile, a massive Twitter scam recently appeared, fooling users into purchasing fake NFTs.

On the other hand, Elon Musk's Twitter purchase bid was previously reviewed.
