A new superbug that can infect pigs and humans has been identified, and experts are alarmed by this new disease.
Involved researchers said that the new superbug Clostridioides difficile just shows that zoonotic diseases are existing.
For those who are not familiar with the zoonotic term, it means that a disease can transfer from an animal to a human.
"Our finding of multiple and shared resistance genes indicate that C. difficile is a reservoir of antimicrobial resistance genes that can be exchanged between animals and humans," said Dr. Semej Bejaoui, one of the leading researchers of the new study.
New Superbug Transfers From Pig To Human
According to Physorg's latest report, the new superbug C difficile is a bacterium that can infect human intestines. What makes it alarming is its resistance to antibiotics.
When it comes to severity, the newly found disease can cause serious inflammation in the stomach. This can lead to some life-dangering health complications, such as severe diarrhea.
The new study stated that most of the victims of the new superbug are elderly, as well as hospitalized patients.
As of writing, the new superbug was found across 14 pig farms in Denmark. The new study explained that the overuse of antibiotics as cheap production tools on pig farms played an important role in the spread of the new superbug.
On the other hand, experts also warned about humans' over usage of antibiotics since it can lead to more antibiotic-resistant diseases.

Existing Zoonotic Diseases
Diseases that can transfer from animals to humans are not really new. Minnesota Department of Health provided a list of the infectious diseases that animals suffer from, which can then be transferred to people.
One of the most common zoonotic diseases is rabies. This is typically found in dogs. Since humans commonly interact with dogs, they can contract rabies if not careful.
Meanwhile, CDC's new health advisory explained why experts should be concerned about the new rare liver damage in children.
Meanwhile, Neuralink as a morbid obesity solution might be possible, say experts.
