Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 is rolling out Google Assistant, but it turns out that its users have to wait for a while.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4's Google Assistant Rollout
The wearables of the South Korean tech giant, Samsung, namely the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic, are two of the most popular smartwatches out there.
But it is worth noting that the latest Samsung wearables, despite exclusively running Wear OS 3, the Android operating system for smartwatches, are still missing a key feature, Google Assistant.
As per a news story by Android Police, the missing feature on Galaxy Watch 4 is about to change, at least according to the Verizon support page for the Galaxy Watch 4 Classic.
The support page of Verizon claims that a new system update is coming to the Galaxy Watch 4 today. The website further stated that long-awaited Google Assistant software is coming to the latest Galaxy smartwatches.
The US carrier said that Assistant support is rolling out on Galaxy Watch 4 models in its newest update, which reportedly releases today.
Verizon even shared an update log saying that "if you have Google Assistant downloaded, it will show up in the settings menu under "Google Accounts."
The carrier went on to attach a blurry screenshot to prove that Assistant support is coming to Galaxy Watch 4.
Google Says Otherwise
However, Google clarifies its virtual assistant is actually not rolling out today.
According to a recent report by The Verge, Google spokesperson Ivy Hunt told the news outlet that the "Assistant is not rolling out to Galaxy 4 and we don't have an update on timing."
So it turns out that contrary to the claims of Verizon, the rollout of Google Assistant for Galaxy Watch 4 devices is not occurring anytime today. Instead, it is delayed to a later date, which the tech giant could not provide in the meantime.
Galaxy Watch 4 Update
On top of that, Verizon provides more details about the latest system update of the Samsung wearables.
Apart from the Assistant compatibility that Verizon claims to be coming, the update also reportedly rolls out a new Smart Switch backup and restore process.
The tweak in the latest Watch 4 software update should make the back and restore process more seamless than ever. It veers away from requiring its users to move from their phones and watches to do so.
What's more, the system update for the Samsung wrist device also provides its users with a shortcut for measuring their body compositions.
