After leaving his position as CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey is now focusing on a new company, Block. Currently, he is working on an upcoming crypto wallet that is literally shaped like a rock.
Block's Hardware Chief Posts Photo of Upcoming Crypto Wallet
According to the story by Mashable, the public might soon be able to keep their cryptocurrency stored directly in an oddly shaped rock. Block's very own Jesse Dorogusker, the company's hardware chief, recently tweeted a photo.
The tweeted photo included five oddly shaped rock-like hexagonal gadgets that looked similar to ordinary rocks but were the company's new products. One important indicator of the upcoming crypto wallet was that USB ports looked like fingerprint readers located on top.
Block CEO Shared the Photo with a Caption 'Rockey'
Dorsey, now the CEO of Block, tweeted the photo with the caption "rockey." Mashable argues that although no distinct evidence was given to conclude that the gadgets were indeed crypto wallets, it wasn't hard for them to conclude that Block was working on these gadgets for a significant amount of time.
A recent post on Wallets.Build detailed plans of an upcoming crypto wallet stating that they were open for feedback linking back to Max Guise on Twitter and the email address wallet@block.xyz.
Company's Statement on the Mobile App and Hardware Wallet
According to the company, they will be providing the users a way to easily access their crypto holding through a mobile app and a hardware wallet. Block says that the mobile app will help users "safely own and manage their bitcoins."
When it comes to hardware wallets, the company aims to add more layers of security when moving money. The hardware wallet is also expected to act as a "self-serve recovery kit when a customer loses their mobile wallet."
Photos Shared Remain Prototypes for the Upcoming Crypto Wallet
Dorogusker's photos, however, are said not yet the finished products. The gadgets shown were reportedly prototypes that Block was experimenting with for building a hardware component for the wallet.
Block's head of product, marketing, and partnerships for the wallet, Lindsey Grossman, confirmed to The Verge that the photos were prototypes.
There is no confirmed news about when the Block devices might hit the market.
The wallets are expected to support numerous cryptocurrencies and have a display allowing users to monitor their crypto easily.
