YouTube is adding a new feature that allows its users to share videos directly to their Snapchat. Because of this, users will no longer have to copy-paste the URL in order to share YouTube clips on the social media app.
YouTube Now Lets Users Share Videos to Snapchat
According to the story by Engadget, the new approach helps users save time by providing a shortcut to the whole video sharing process to Snapchat. Snapchat is actually the latest social media platform added to its roster as Twitter, Facebook Messenger, and others already have the feature available for users.
Per an announcement by Snapchat, both Android and iOS users will be able to share YouTube videos directly for either Snap Stories or individual Snaps. Aside from just sharing videos to Snapchat, the new share-to-Snapchat allows users to leverage the many other features of Snap.
Snapchat Allows Users to Add Text, Stickers, and Share to Other Snapchat Users
This means that users could add text, stickers, and share the features directly to Snapchat viewers from either the YouTube web browser or app. In order to use the feature, all users have to do is click on the "share" option on the YouTube app and click on the Snapchat icon to share to the social media.
According to Snapchat, this will be the very first time that users will be able to simply share YouTube links on the website. Engadget, however, notes that this might not be the specific social media platform that users want to share to.
YouTube Shorts Compatible with Snapchat
Engadget says that allowing users to share videos to YouTube might not be as good as allowing them to share to other alternative social media sites like Instagram or TikTok. Allowing users to share videos to Snapchat, however, might have an advantage for the type of content shared on the social media app.
Since YouTube is now trying to ramp up the popularity of Shorts to compete with TikTok, allowing users to share their Shorts on Snapchat could be a strategic way of increasing the popularity of its Shorts.
Snapchat Says They Are Offering Users 'Infinite Ways to Express Themselves'
An article by CNET details how Snap refers to the situation as a way to give users "infinite ways to express themselves." Due to the addition of stickers and texts, a number of Snapchat users will be able to make the videos more personalized and unique.
Users can then opt to either share the Snaps to their friends or even share the the video to their Snapchat story. This means that instead of having to come up with daily Snapchat content, users can now simply choose videos from YouTube to share to their accounts.
