FirstBuild, a product innovation lab backed by GE, has just introduced new BBQ technology that eliminates smoke and can be used indoors. FirstBuild introduces Arden, the indoor smoker still using pellets but eliminating smoke, making it safe to use indoors.
The Popularity of Using Pellets to Add Flavor While Smoking
According to the story by Engadget, as the weather starts to warm up, it could be the perfect time for aspiring pitmasters to start getting ready for low-and-slow cooking. As the popularity of pellet grills grows due to its additional flavor, one inconvenience that a lot of people experience is the fact that they have to cook outdoors.
Engadget argues that although this could be a fun experience, this might not always be the perfect venue, especially if it starts raining. The publication also noted that smoking is also not accessible to everyone, giving people living in apartments as an example.
Product Innovation Lab Backed by GE Called FirstBuild Introduces the Arden
Luckily, there seems to be a solution found in a product innovation lab being backed by GE Appliances. A product innovation lab being backed by GE Appliances called FirstBuild just revealed its Arden, an indoor smoker capable of still burning wood pellets while getting rid of the smoke, making it a safe addition to one's indoor kitchen.
Just like an outdoor pellet grill, FirstBuild's Arden contains a hopper to be used for fuel-burning pellets to help create smoke that flavors the food. The main difference of the Arden is that it is a countertop unit that uses heating elements to regulate the temperature, helping the cooking process without just the use of burning pellets.
FirstBuild's First Implementation was In an Old GE Fridge
As per FirstBuild, the initial idea for the smoker's implementation was in an old GE fridge that they decided to turn into a BBQ cooker. In order to do this, the FirstBuild team initially had to outfit the old fridge with the smoke trapping tech being used in the Hearth Oven.
The product innovation lab notes that the smoker has already attracted a ton of interest coming from its community, asking people if they would be interested in buying and how big an ideal indoor smoker would be.
