Google's "Look to Speak" app is an assistive tool for users who want to communicate with other people using only eye movement and the phone's camera.
During the recently-concluded Oscars 2022, the search engine giant launched a short ad about this app.
Here's a short guide that will help you with that for those unfamiliar with how this application works.
Google Look to Speak App
According to Pocketlint's latest report, the app can guide you in choosing a particular phrase from a pool of choices. You can accomplish this by simply relying on eye movement. The app would later interpret this in the form of spoken phrases.
It's important to mention that the Look to Speak app is a huge part of the company's "Start with One" project. Inside this collection, you can see a myriad of experiments that are deemed to be helpful in the community.
"The hope is that Look to Speak will be helpful to communities with varied types of temporary, permanent, or situational disabilities," Google said about the app.

Accessing the Google Look to Speak App
Accessing this application comes in easy steps. There's no sign-in required to get this app. All you need to do is download it from Google Play Store on your Android device.
Using the Google Look to Speak App
After you download this app, you will be asked if you want to permit access to your phone's camera. Just simply tap "yes" and proceed to the final process.
Once you're finished, a series of instructions will appear next to your screen. These will help you get started with the Look to Speak application.
You will notice right away that there's a collection of phrases that are divided into two columns. For instance, if you want to select a phrase located on the left column, just simply look to the left side of the screen.
You can actually do this step again so you can choose as many phrases as you want. Once you have already done it many times, the columns will split again until your desired phrase is left. The last phrase from the choices will be uttered aloud by the app.
Just a friendly reminder to everyone: if you look up your device's display, an action will immediately be canceled. Additionally, the app will be placed into snooze mode if you do the same process.
Speaking of snooze mode, the app will instantly be locked. However, you can unlock it by following some instructions involving eye movements. Just make sure you follow each of them correctly to begin the communication.
Earlier this week, Google aired Oscar's advertisement about the Look to Speak app, 9to5Google reported. The brief demo presented a close-up view of the different eyes of the people.
