According to a report by Apple Insider, Verizon users have reportedly received several spammy messages which notify them about their carrier bill. However, the texts strangely came from their own phone number which was something worth thinking about.

To add, some users said that some messages contain "your bill has been paid." There's an attached link on it as well which bears the message "a little gift for you."

Over Reddit, Verizon users raised their concerns regarding this unusual case. Aside from that, some individuals wrote their complaints about this issue on Twitter wherein they shared their experiences with Verizon Support.

Since there's an influx of users on the platform, the support team of the company could not entirely attend to their needs. It should be noted that the firm might release a statement at any time regarding this problem.

What to Do If You Receive a Spam Text

In another article written by 9to5Mac on Monday, March 28, the customers are advised to refrain from clicking any links of the suspicious message. As a legitimate solution, they can just ignore it and hide it in the spam folder.

As an alternative, they can also forward the message to SPAM and send it to 7726. According to the tech site, the recent Verizon incident could fall as a "smishing" scam, a dangerous scheme done by hackers to steal confidential information from their victims.

In an interview with The Verge, Verizon said that if you continue to receive spam messages on your devices, you can seek another option in the form of complaint filing with the FCC.

From there, you can immediately head to the "Your Number is Being Spoofed" section to proceed with reporting this issue if it still bugs you.

As of press time, the issue remains unresolved. Verizon is expected to take action as soon as possible to prevent the spread of this smishing campaign from unknown intruders.

Blocking Unsolicited Spam Calls

For other carrier users, particularly those who utilize T-Mobile, there was a previous report which mentioned the "scam block" feature. Tech Times reported that a TikTok user shared how to block unwanted spam calls from anonymous callers.

The source mentioned that to avoid receiving annoying phone calls, the users should only do one thing on their devices: simply type #662#.

After doing this, the "scam block" feature will now be enabled. From here, you will not receive any spam calls anymore which potentially come from cybercriminals and stalkers.
