Reddit's iconic stunt during April Fool's Day will be returning soon, according to an official. After five years of inactivity, Redditors will experience using r/Place as part of the April 1st gimmick.
Reddit to Bring Back r/Place on April 1
According to a report by Ad Week on Monday, March 28, Reddit will bring back r/place once again this coming Friday, April 1 at 6 AM/9 AM ET. This would fall on the same day popularly known to many as April Fool's Day.
Per the firm's executive VP for Strategy and Special Projects, Alex Le, Reddit wants to present something new to the public that's why they want to show "the magic of online communities, conversation, and collaboration."
Originally, r/place first came out on April 1, 2017. This special experiment allows Reddit users to place any colored pixels in one tile. They can do this every five minutes. All they need to do is simply click one of them.
During its popularity a few years back then, this Reddit gimmick was able to amass over 1 million users who tapped about 16 million tiles featuring various and unique subjects, The Verge reported.
Of course, it wouldn't be Reddit if there were no weird images here so expect many bizarre things that you can see in the following days.

'Wordle Creator' Behind r/Place
Interestingly, the creation of r/place was accomplished thanks to the effort of Josh Wardle who formulated the idea behind this April Fool's stunt.
If you have played "Wordle" before, it's pretty obvious that he has indeed some ties in this word-guessing game because he is the creator of it.
Latest r/Place Version
The most recent version of r/place will tour the users to the Reddit magic land wherein they will only access their home feed or the app's community drawer. It's easy to navigate since all they need to do is to tap the widget icon bearing the letter P.
If you want to get started with this stunt, you need to have a Reddit account first so you can fully experience the entire display of different pictures on the platform.
By that time, you can place a pixel that you want to change. Later, it will transform into a more special image that will alter in real-time.
According to Reddit, users will only have until midnight of April 5 to access the r/place on the front page of the internet.
"We learned from the original experiment that people online are naturally collaborative, that Redditors are more creative than we are, and that Reddit is a place where great things blossom," Le wrote in a blog post.
Le added that April Fool's Day has been showcasing inspiring features for all the audiences. As an example, he listed a chat room-like feature dubbed "Robin" and "Circle of Trust" which was established in 2018 as part of the April Fool's Day prank.
