Facebook Messenger has launched "soundmojis"--these are emojis that play a sound when you send them within the messaging app.
Facebook Messenger Introduces Soundmojis
Facebook's sound design team has assigned sounds to 30 emojis. If you wish to send hands clapping emoji, you will be able to hear actual applause, according to Mashable.
Other "soundmojis" have pop culture sound clips connected to them. If you click the stop emoji, you will hear singer Billie Eilish ask, "Stop. What the hell are you talking about?" a snippet of her song "Therefore I am."
Soundmojis are only available in Facebook Messenger. However, WhatsApp and Instagram, which Facebook owns, are currently being integrated to allow inter-platform messaging between Facebook and Instagram. So it is possible that users will see more soundmojis in the future.

How to Use Soundmojis
To use soundmojis, give Facebook Messenger access to your phone's microphone via settings. On iPhones, go to Settings and scroll down to click on the Messenger app. Make sure that the microphone option is turned on, according to Pocket Lint.
Next, open a chat in Facebook Messenger and navigate to the text box. Click the smiley face icon located in the right corner of the screen.
You will see a menu pull up in the lower half of the app and four tabs. Click on the farthest right tab, see a speaker icon.
Click the speaker icon, and you will see the menu of "soundmojis." Scroll through the options and test the sound by clicking on them within the menu.
Once you are done selecting a "soundmoji," it will appear larger in the center of the menu. You will be able to hear a test again by clicking on it. If you are sure that it is the "soundmoji" you want to send to someone, click the send button underneath the selected "soundmoji."
The "soundmoji" will appear in the chat but note that it will not play on its own. The user that you are chatting with will have to click on the "soundmoji" to hear the audio. They will know that it's got "soundmoji" status because it will appear with parentheses around it.
Encrypting Chats on Facebook Messenger
Aside from "soundmojis," Facebook has also enabled encryption in Messenger. Online privacy and security have been a concern for years, so Facebook has decided to add encryption, according to Android Central.
With encryption, users are ensured that their information is safe. Facebook has enabled end-to-end encryption for its Messenger app on Android phones, applicable for group chats.
To encrypt your messages, open Facebook Messenger on your smartphone. Create a new group chat by choosing the pencil icon in the upper right. Make sure that the lock symbol in the upper right is turned on to be able to encrypt the chat.
Next, select create a group chat and select who you want to be in the chat. Create a name for the chat and select create.
Note that you can only enable encryption on new group messages, so if there is an existing group chat that you wish to encrypt, you won't be able to do it unless you create a new group chat.
