Apple launched the iOS 15 update six months ago, but the messaging app WhatsApp is now only bringing full support for the new operating system.
WhatsApp Now Supports iOS 15
According to WABetaInfo, version 22.7.0.76 of WhatsApp beta now supports Apple iOS 15. The messaging app indirectly supported some iOS 15 features in the past, but that did not mean that the app was ready for the iPhone's latest operating system.
For example, after months of testing, WhatsApp for iOS now shows profile photos in notifications and supports focus mode, but only with the latest beta, the company is readying full support to Apple's iOS 15.
Another update, as users can see when they open the app, the toolbar is dark if no other UI elements are close to it. The same thing applies to "Settings."
It should not take long until WhatsApp finally supports iOS 15. According to 9to5Mac, more features are coming after the release of this future update.
It is important to note that the app is also readying multi-device support 2.0, which will bring the long-awaited iPad app. In addition, WhatsApp beta for Android is already supporting messages reactions, which should roll out for iOS beta testers soon.
WhatsApp's Emoji Reactions
On Mar. 22, WhatsApp added emoji reactions in beta on Android. According to The Verge, the emoji reactions have started appearing in beta version 2.22.8.3 of the app's Android version, giving users a fast and easy way to respond to incoming messages.
With a long-press of a message, the feature lets users react to the message and select one of the six emojis: crying, thumbs up, heart, laughter, folded hands, or shocked face.
WhatsApp is rolling out the features on Android in phases. Aside from its appearance on Android, there are also signs that emoji reactions are on the way for iOS and desktop apps.
In January, WhatsApp's beta app on iOS has had a settings toggle to control Reaction Notifications. A similar setting appeared in the beta version of the desktop version this month.
The emoji reactions have become commonplace across other messaging services like Facebook Messenger, iMessage, Google's Message app, and Twitter DMs. Now, WhatsApp is the latest messaging service to be added to that list.
WhatsApp Gets Eraser Feature
According to Gaming Tech Report, WhatsApp launched an eraser feature for Android phones. In the current beta version of the Android version, users will be able to use brushes and an eraser.
To be able to access the new feature, users just need to tap on the pencil icon to launch the eraser. Users can slide their fingers across the smartphone screen with different degrees of intensity to blur parts of the video or photo.
The eraser feature is very useful if you need to delete your license plate, phone number, name, address, and other personal information that is in a picture or video.
WhatsApp users who have a Xiaomi, Samsung, or Sony won't have this option yet, but the feature will soon be available on these smartphones.
In January 2021, WhatsApp warned users of malicious messages, and the app tightened its security in the latest update.
In February 2021, WhatsApp added a sign-out feature so users can log out without deleting their accounts.
