AMD is preparing what looks to be an absolute BEAST of a GPU for its next-generation RX 7000 series, if this rumor proves to be accurate.
The rumor alleges that the Navi 33 GPU, which is being targeted for mid-range consumers, will be faster than the current top-dog RX 6900 XT. According to PCGamer, this silicon could be expected in the upcoming RX 7600 or 7700 (perhaps even the XT versions) when it launches.
Industry leaker greymon55 on Twitter shared that the Navi 33 will be able to provide more TFLOPs than the RX 6900 XT's 22.9, all while pulling far less power at a projected consumption of 220-250W. Here is the tweet:
Greymon's sources allege that AMD is already deep in the internal testing of the chip. Furthermore, HardwareTimes claims that the Navi 33 silicon is being tested in the first batch of unreleased RX 7700 XTs in a process known as the bring-up. This process involves a fresh batch of dies arriving for pre-market testing before they're released into the wild.
Greymon also claims that the RX 7700 XT will also be the first GPU based on Navi 33 to be announced "towards the end of the year." It will be made using TSMC's 6nm manufacturing process, and will be half the price of the RX 6900 XT while providing more performance. This is an insane claim if proven true.
For now, though, it will be important to take this rumor with a grain of salt. AMD themselves hasn't announced even a vague release window. Various publications such as Tech Advisor could only assume that Team Red will once again not follow a yearly release, similar to what they did with the RX 6000 series of graphics cards.
Some sources are alleging that the release of the RX 7000 series has been pushed back for Q4 2022, courtesy of Twitter leaker Broly_X1 in a now-deleted tweet.

AMD's Next-Gen RX 7000 Series Performance Predictions
So leakers are saying that a next-gen RX 7700 XT will be faster than the current-gen top-end RX 6900 XT. But what about the other products in the stack-specifically the higher-end ones?
Above the 7700 XT, you could expect a 7800 XT and a 7900 XT. Based on the rumored specs, they'll both outperform their last-gen counterparts, as per the original Hardware Times report. The 7800 XT, for instance, could be 50-80% faster than the 6800 XT by virtue of its Navi 32 chip.
As for the 7900 XT, the performance bump is expected to be 2.2 to 2.5x that of the 6900 XT via its Navi 31 chip. From these rumored performance levels, one might infer that the cards will open up 4K 60 FPS gaming and beyond for a wider range of audiences, considering this has been the target of current-gen gaming consoles since 2020.
But whether the pricing (which is a topic for another time) will make them worth the performance claims remains to be seen.
