EV routing feature on Apple Maps and CarPlay is now available for users of the Ford Mustang Mach-E via the recently released iOS 15.4 update for iPhones.
EV Routing on Apple Maps, CarPlay for Ford Mustang Mach-E
As per a news story by 9to5Mac, Apple has released a new handy feature for the drivers of Ford Mustang Mach-E, allowing users to look for charging stations along their route whenever they need to top up their batteries.
The news outlet noted that the Cupertino tech giant first introduced its feature for electric vehicles way back in 2020 during the WWDC event that year. The EV feature debuted in the iOS 14 update of Apple.
Although it has since rolled out to other EVs, Apple quietly launched it to Ford Mustang Mach-E this time around through the latest update of iOS. It comes as the EV-friendly function is rolling out depending on the compatibility of various vehicles, according to a recent report by CNET.
That said, owners of Ford Mustang Mach-E are only getting the Apple Maps EV feature by now.
The American automaker, Ford, already created a support page on its website specifically for the EV Routing feature of Apple, confirming the feature is already up for Mustang Much-E.
Ford says that the Apple Maps EV Routing feature "creates a route to your preferred destination including an EV charging station along the way."
As such, it would be a handy feature for EV owners who are also scrambling to look where they could top-up their battery while they are on their way to their destination.
Apple Maps, CarPlay EV Routing on Ford: How it Works
The new EV-friendly feature on Ford Mach-E is activated via the Apple CarPlay, which is the infotainment software of the iPhone maker.
As such, its users have to connect their iPhone to the infotainment system of their Mustang Mach-E to enable EV routing.
After connecting the iPhone to the infotainment system of the Mach-E, set a destination on the sync screen interface of Apple Maps on CarPlay.
Then, a popup message, saying that reads: "Get EV routes for your Mustang Mach-E" should show up. Upon seeing it, click the "OK" button to have it activated.

Apple EV Routing on Other Ford EVs
It is to note that Ford said that the EV mapping feature is also coming to its other electric cars other than the Mustang Mach-E, including the F-150 Lightning and the E-Transit.
