Kaleidoscope app developers recently penned a complaint letter to Apple regarding the lack of paid app upgrades and issues about App Store Bundles.
For those who have no idea about this app, the official website of the team claims it to be the world's most powerful file comparison app. It can easily spot the differences in both image and text files and review the changes in just a few seconds.
Other than that, it received a huge redesign which was the first time that took place in the past eight years. The improvements include a new Reader view, Dark mode, Mac support (Apple Silicon-based), and more.
Kaleidoscope Developers' Complaints About App Store
According to the latest report by 9to5Mac on Thursday, March 17, the Kaleidoscope developers saw a lot of "pitfalls" in the App Store.
It should be noted that those existing users will not be granted a discounted price for the app. That's why getting the updated version is so tedious to think about, but that's not possible either. In that case, the customers will be needing to purchase the new version of the app at full price.
Although the App Bundles appear to have a good solution for the problem, the developers thought that it does not work that way.
Upon the arrival of this feature in 2014, the bundle offers for more than two applications on the App Store can be given to users for a discounted value.
If you already own one app from this bundle, you should expect that its price will be much lower than usual.
However, as Letter Opener noted, these App Bundles appeared to be more disastrous than useful. Seemingly, the bundle price discount will not work if ever the customer decides to change the current country of the Apple ID.
In addition, the Mac developers noticed "very limited pricing choices" for the bundle. This gave them more restrictions when it comes to giving a specific charge for the users
Aside from that, the upgrade price appears to be inconsistent for many people. It is expected that the app cost will spike more if a particular application was bought during a special offer.
The Cupertino giant imposed a requirement to all bundled apps: all of them should be available for a "separate" sale in the platform. This was also one reason why the developers found the App Store lacking paid upgrades.

What's The Solution For the App Store Issue?
Speaking of which, the Kaleidoscope developers wrote on a blog that the tech giantly unveiled that unlisting an app is now possible. They added that this is the potential answer to the issue in the context of selling the Kaleidoscope 2 to the customers.
At the moment, the bundle only offers Kaleidoscope 3 and this even posed more confusion to all users.
According to them, some users complained that they could not download the Kaleidoscope 2 again after buying it from the App Store. They can still find them from a direct link or a list of purchased apps.
With that, Letter Opener wrote a letter to Apple regarding the possible improvements that they can do for their concern.
If Apple could not address this issue properly, we expect that a lot of Mac developers will leave the platform soon. However, the case will be solved if the company will allow them to add charges for the app upgrades.
