"World of Warcraft" players in Ukraine are now saying that they were banned from playing the game of Blizzard after the gaming giant sanctioned Russia by blocking its services in the latter.
'World of Warcraft' Players in Ukraine Affected by Ban
According to a recent report by Dexerto, a user of Reddit that goes by the name Corvius posted that some players based in Ukraine are having some difficulties opening their "World of Warcraft" accounts.
The Reddit user who reported that issue said that he was living in a city that was close to the border of Ukraine and Russia, Kramatorsk.
The Reddit user said that "many other people got their Battle.net accounts banned."
He even noted that there was no way to contact customer support as users have to log in to their accounts to ask for help.
Corvius added that "'World of Warcraft' was one of the little things that kept me distracted from the horrors that are going on around me."
Dexerto noted in the same story that the issue that the "World of Warcraft" player might have been facing appears to have something to do with his location.
Given that Kramastorsk sits near the border of the two conflicting nations, the sanction of Activision Blizzard might have extended to where he is based.
Blizzard's Ban in Russia
As per a news story by NME, the game publisher behind massive titles like "World of Warcraft" and "Call of Duty" have suspended all of its game sales in the Russian region last March 4, its COO and president Daniel Alegre announced.
The Activision Blizzard exec said that the suspension will be taking effect until the conflict exists. Thus, various gaming titles, namely "Call of Duty," "Overwatch," and World of Warcraft" have been affected by the move.
On top of that, the giant game publisher also announced that it stands with the people of Ukraine, adding that the firm is going to support them.
The move of Activision Blizzard follows the move of other game publishers, such as Electronic Arts or EA and Microsoft. All of which have also suspended the sales of their games in the Russian region.
