Instagram Makes Official TikTok Account to Promote Reels, Creator Umbrella Account Revealed

After Instagram released its TikTok-like feature called Reels, the social media platform made an official TikTok account. The official account created is now promoting Instagram Reels on TikTok.

Instagram Made Its Official TikTok Account to Promote Reels

Instagram created the verified TikTok account directly under its creator umbrella with its first-ever video recently posted. Its first video shared news accompanied by a caption saying they are on TikTok.

The video invites viewers to follow them to see creators share different tips and tricks "directly from us at Instagram." With that, the new account is a classic example of a social media app having an account on another social media app.

Instagram Is Promoting Its Reels on TikTok with Influencers and Social Media Experts

According to the story by Mashable, the reason that Instagram is on Tiktok is as ironic as the statement itself. As per the publication, the early content shows that Meta's Instagram "procured influencers and social media experts" to all show up on Instagram's TikTok account to promote the company's TikTok-competitor feature Reels.

The publication described Reels as a "not-so-subtle TikTok lookalike." In addition, the promotion of Reels on TikTok can be seen through two videos that were posted just recently.

Instagram's Two Videos on TikTok

The first video shared certain advice to help users increase their visibility on Reels, and it was posted on the Instagram Creators' account. The video was posted by @thesocialista.

The tips include sticking to a niche topic and using other trending audio. Another influencer account, @lissettecalv, also gave tips on coping whenever a certain Reel won't be performing as well as the creator wanted it to.

Instagram Now Has 1,000 Followers on Its TikTok Account

As per Mashable, this could actually be the start of a series of other Reel-related videos posted to Instagram's TikTok account. Despite the account only being about a day old, the official Reels account on TikTok has already gained a significant 1,000 followers.

The publication tackled the rabbithole of apps having accounts on other apps, saying it even gets funnier because TikTok already has its own official creator account on Instagram.

TikTok's Instagram Account

The @tiktokcreators account on Instagram is a verified account, and for those that haven't noticed, the account is already quite popular. As of the moment, the account has already posted 657 times and has 398,000 followers.

The publication begs whether or not apps promoting other apps are either genius or confusing. Instagram is now doing whatever it takes to get people to use its TikTok-competitor, Reels.

Mashable notes that Instagram might already have the idea that "it's not winning the copycat war."
