Apple Watch With watchOS 8.5 Can be Restored With an iPhone iOS 15.4? Support Document Reveals

A new Apple support document points out that a watchOS 8.5-supported smartwatch can be restored using an iPhone. It should be noted that the iPhone should support iOS 15.4 or later.

Here's how you can do this process in a few easy steps.

Apple Watch Restoration With iPhone

According to a report by Macrumors on Monday, March 14, you can do the restoration process if your Apple Watch supports watchOS 8.5 or later versions. If this sole condition is met, you will notice an animation on the screen of the smartphone where they are linked together.

With that, remember to follow these procedures to carry out this process successfully:

  1. First, your iPhone should be nearby. Initially, you need to have an Apple smartphone that has iOS 15.4 or later versions for that to work.

  2. Don't forget to connect your device to WiFi and make sure that the Bluetooth has been switched on and unlocked.

  3. Next, place the Apple Watch on its charger.

  4. Double-tap the button just below the circular Digital Crown or the side button on the smart wearable as the Apple support page wrote.

  5. Continue by following the succeeding procedures on the iPhone.

If you experience an unsuccessful encounter but have followed this series of steps already, you might want to evaluate if your Wi-Fi has issues in connectivity, per Cupertino giant's advice to the users.

The iPad maker recommended Apple customers rely on 2.4GHz rather than using 5GHz. Additionally, it also advised to avoid Wi-Fi networks (802.1X) in close rooms like hotels.

The support document further stated that this feature enables the restoration of the watchOS for select Apple Watch variants. This means that you can repair your smartwatch without the need of seeking help from the Apple Repair Center.

The internal memo, however, did not give the specific models of the Apple smartwatch that are eligible for the restoration process.

If there comes a time that a red exclamation point appears on the smartwatch, Apple advises the users to double-tap the side button and continue to follow the remaining steps.

If this conspicuous remark re-appears on the screen, this is now the time to call Apple support for a follow-up repair.
