YouTube Vanced has been discontinued by Google, according to the latest report. This app which features ad-blocking capability is one of the most used apps that other users use especially for those who don't want to opt for YT Premium.
Aside from its built-in ad-free subscription, this popular indie app can allow background playback, casting toggle, force HDR mode, picture-in-picture video, and more.
Google Shuts Down YouTube Vanced
Since the dislike count feature was removed on YouTube, many users want to protest to bring it back. Although this did not happen this time, YouTube Vanced has made it possible for those who want to use it again.
However, according to Android Police's latest article, Google has already put an end to its service by totally removing it. The team who created this mod officially announced the news on the Telegram channel Vanced Official.
"In the coming days, the download links on the website will be taken down. We know this is not something you wanted to hear but it's something we need to do. Thank you all for supporting us over the years," the developers wrote.
This app has been a useful tool for content creators, especially those who want to avoid pesky advertisements on the video-viewing platform.
YouTube Vanced has been a good free-to-use alternative that does not only grant built-in ad blocker but also helps the users to save a monthly charge of $11.99 for a Premium subscription.
Apart from that, the team has renamed YouTube Vanced to Vanced only because it might encounter some legal concerns. Given its rich features that people could use for free, it's understandable why many prefer to go for this.
In addition, this app features swipe brightness/volume controls and even an AMOLED black theme. For its installation, the process is just simple. You just need to go to a trusted website to download its APK.

Why YouTube Vanced Was Discontinued
In another story written by 9to5Google, the developers thought that the decision to discontinue the YouTube alternative was because of "legal reasons."
Having said that, we could expect that no upcoming updates for YouTube Vanced will come for the next few months. It should be noted that Google has been implementing a wide-scale crackdown on unauthorized third-party apps.
Similarly, this is what happened in the past for Discord bots such as Rhythm and Groovy due to copyright issues. At that time, the tech giant filed a cease-and-desist order to take down this client.
If you're planning to use Vanced for one last time, you can still use it by clicking here. However, you should remember that it won't be able to receive any developments at any time.
