Tesla Model Y sales in China have drastically increased in February 2022, whereas the Model 3 sedan sales figures have gone down.
Tesla Model Y Sales in China
As per a news story by InsideEVs, the Tesla Model Y SUV crossover EV is currently amassing more sales in the Chinese region, which saw an impressive 302% increase when compared to its numbers way back in Feb. 2021.
The February sales of the Tesla EV crossover also booked a slight increase from its January performance, but it is still far away from its impressive figures way back in December 2021, which almost reached the 40,000 mark.
On top of that, the sales figures of the Tesla Model Y in China for both Jan. and Feb. dramatically increased, showing an impressive start for the new year for the American automaker led by billionaire Elon Musk.
Tesla Model Y vs. Other Vehicles in China
It is worth noting that the Model Y crossover has outperformed most premium SUVs or crossovers in the Chinese territory, at least in terms of its sales figures last February.
That said, it has overtaken the sales performance of other SUVs from massive automakers, such as the Mercedes Benz GLC, the BMW X3, and the Audi Q5.
According to a recent report by CnEVPost, the Mercedes Benz GLC sold about 10,000 units in the Asian country last month. Meanwhile, the Audi Q5, flaunted nearly 9,000 model sales, whereas the BMW X3 boasted around 9,000 units as well.
However, a hybrid vehicle or PHEV of the Chinese carmaker, the BYD Song, took the top spot in sales last month. On the other hand, another EV from the automaker, the BYD Tang, got the third spot.
The top-selling PHEV, the BYD Song, garnered more than 22,754 units sold, whereas the Tesla Model Y achieved an impressive 18,593 sales in China last month.
On the other hand, the BYD Tang, which lags behind the Tesla crossover, only sold 10,026 units.

Tesla Model 3
On the flipside, InsideEVs said in the same report that the Model 3 sedan sales have massively fallen behind its performance last year.
The made-in-China Tesla Model 3 only sold 4,607 units last month in the Chinese nation, which is down 66 percent compared to its sales performance in 2021.
However, it is still a slight improvement from its dismal sales last January, wherein it is down by 78 percent from last year.
Meanwhile, last March 10, as per a report by Reuters, both the Model Y SUV and Model 3 in China got a $1,582 price increase.
