iPhone 12 is 2021's best-selling smartphone, followed by other budget or entry-level devices from Xiaomi and Samsung.
iPhone is 2021's Best Selling Smartphone
According to a news story by SlashGear, Apple only lags behind the South Korean phone maker, Samsung, in terms of being the largest smartphone maker.
However, it turns out that the individual sales of Apple smartphones, including its iPhone 12 and the all-new iPhone 13, is still second to none.
According to the latest data from Counterpoint Research, the iPhone 12 is the top-selling smartphone from last year, followed by the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Meanwhile, the latest flagship of the Cupertino tech giant, the iPhone 13 takes the third spot. In addition to that, the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 11 got the fourth and 5th spots, respectively.
Samsung Budget Device: Best Selling Phone?
Although Apple's iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series dominated the top best-selling smartphones of 2021, two cheap budget mobile devices from Samsung and Xiaomi also made it to the top 10 list.
Interestingly, the flagship devices of Samsung, such as the Galaxy S21, as well as its foldable phones, namely the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, did not make it to the list.
However, the South Korean phone maker broke the streak of Apple in the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2021 by grabbing sixth place.
The entry-level smartphone of Samsung, the Galaxy A12 is the 6th best selling phone of 2021.
As per GSM Arena, the Samsung Galaxy A12 sells for only $149.99 on Amazon. It is to note that the budget mobile device was released way back on Dec. 21, 2020, sporting up to 128GB of internal storage and 4GB of RAM.
The A12 comes with a massive 5,000 mAh battery, which supports fast charging of up to 15W. Not to mention that it still flaunts a headphone jack, which most flagships have already ditched.

Xiaomi Redmi Phones Enter Best Selling List
On top of that, two budget smartphones have also entered the top 10 best-selling smartphones list of 2021.
In fact, the Xiaomi Redmi 9A even outsold the top-of-the-line Apple iPhone 13 Pro Max, taking the 7th spot.
The price tag of Redmi 9A, which launched way back in June 2020, starts at $109.49 on Amazon.
On the other hand, the $199 Redmi 9 took that last spot on the list, lagging behind the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
