TikTok's SoundOn Platform Can Help Artists Get Their Music Heard

TikTok wants to provide more direct support for unsigned musicians and help them boost their online presence with a new platform called SoundOn.

SoundOn can enable any musician to upload and license their tracks for use on TikTok and its partner music streaming platform Resso.

TikTok's SoundOn Platform

According to TikTok, SoundOn allows new artists to upload their music directly to TikTok and start earning royalties when that music is used.

SoundOn pays out 100% royalties to music creators in the first year of their song on the platform and 90% after that. This will provide a range of promotional tools and support, according to Social Media Today.

The said support tools include audience insight and development notes, advice from the SoundOn artist team, access to TikTok's song list, and promotional support through the creator marketing in the app.

Aside from this, SoundOn artists will also be able to distribute their work to other music sites. TikTok said that as a result, the loyalty of fans will transcend TikTok and will help artists build audiences on other streaming services.

That could entice users who are looking to make a name for themselves in the music industry. TikTok will now play a key role in the music distribution process and can connect its new tracks to audiences.

Music is an important element in the TikTok process, with 9 out of 10 users viewing sound as being vital to the TikTok experience.

TikTok's influence on the industry has also become increasingly evident, with some publishers even changing the names of the tracks in line with how they are being referred to on the platform, while producers are also now factoring TikTok trends into the process, as they want to generate viral trends through the platform.

The platform has been working for months to give more opportunities for independent musicians to get their work out there and gain traction through TikTok trends.

Back in 2020, TikTok also signed a deal with UnitedMasters to help unknown musicians launch their careers through the app.

SoundOn is the next part of that process, facilitating more direct connection between creators and the platform, which will no doubt be an intriguing proposal for a lot of artists.

Also, it is worth noting that Meta launched the same program in June 2021. It will be great to see how artists respond to the SoundOn program, and how it may influence future music trends, and help increase their campaigns.

SoundOn is now available in the United States, United Kingdom, Brazil, and Indonesia.

TikTok's Partnership

In 2020, TikTok announced its partnerships that were aimed at making it easier for brands to get into music and the SoundOn platform.

According to TechCrunch, the social media company expanded its Marketing Partners program and has since introduced six certified partners that will help brands create strategies for the platform.

TikTok stated that it wants to connect brands with trusted partners that will be able to help them leverage its SoundOn environment to engage with users. TikTok's new sound partner will offer audio with custom sound and subscription sound.

In 2021, Audius teamed up with TikTok to distribute music.

Earlier this year, TikTok lets users download videos via 4K Tokkit so you can get the music.
