"Lost Ark," the massively popular Korean MMO that's taking the gaming world by storm, has now reached an impressive milestone.
PCGamer reports that the game has now surpassed 20 million players all over the world, with much of its players (around 10 million) situated in North America, South America, Europe, and Australia, as per Amazon Games (who is the game's english-language publisher).
This is despite the game's western version still lagging a bit behind its original Korean version. However, it has been confirmed that "Lost Ark" will be getting new content this month, including extra storyline and endgame activities, as well as "more advanced character classes."
But it didn't matter much to new audiences who recently got acquainted with the free-to-play MMO in droves. Upon its first release on Steam, the game was among the platform's biggest ever in terms of concurrent player count. As per IGN, it topped "CS: GO" for the second-highest peak concurrent player count with 1,325,305 players.
As a result, the developers have mentioned they're "absolutely shocked and thrilled" by the game's reception from western audiences (via IGN). The devs have also mentioned that they intend to maintain this, which is evidenced by their planned updates for the foreseeable future.
'Lost Ark' Player Count Remains Impressive
Latest data on Steam also shows just how popular the new MMO is right now. It mostly trades blows with other crowd darlings like FromSoftware's "Elden Ring" and multiplayer shooter "CS:GO" for first place. As of this writing, "Lost Ark's" peak player count (accurate as of March 9th, 2022, at 12:04 PM) sits at 822,383 players, with over 620,000 players currently in-game.
"Lost Ark" also handily beats Steam's current top dog for peak concurrent players: "PUBG," as well as "Dota 2," "Apex Legends," and "Destiny 2."

A Look At The Popularity Of 'Lost Ark'
"Lost Ark" player count numbers are impressive. But in truth, that's not even the one proof of just how popular this game is right now. Case in point: it is helping streamers gain insane viewership numbers.
Among these streamers is Twitch star Asmongold, who recently set a new viewership record on the platform after streaming "Lost Ark" on his channel. He reportedly tallied a peak viewership number of 285,000 viewers, which broke his previous record of 283,000 (one that he reached while streaming "World of Warcraft") back in 2019.
That's just one streamer for now: who knows how many views other streamers have gotten from just broadcasting their gameplay of "Lost Ark."
Should You Start Playing It?
If recent reviews by the western market are any indication, then maybe you should try the new MMORPG out.
PCGamer reports that while the game's reviews on Steam are mostly mixed, 67% of these are on the positive side. Players are reportedly praising the game's approach to combat, character classes, and in-game activities. As for their gripes, the only ones they have is how the game's servers are tough to enter because they're almost always overwhelmed-another proof of the game's immense popularity so far.
