As per a news story by Tesla North, the police department of St. Gallen in Switzerland has also already rolled out the electric crossover SUV of the EV maker as part of their ongoing electrification project.

It is worth noting that the Tesla Model Y SUV has already been adopted by other police departments in various parts of the world to replace their gas-powered patrol cars.

The crossover SUV of Tesla has been famous by numerous police departments for its multiple benefits than the fuel-powered vehicles, such as the lower cost of maintenance and reliability. Not to mention that going electric is also best for the environment.

On top of that, it is actually not the first rodeo of Switzerland into electrifying its police patrol cars. In fact, the Swiss Confederation has already used the Tesla Model X as its police fleet in the city of Basel.

Tesla Model Y Police Car in St. Gallen, Switzerland

A Reddit user that goes by the name habasch91 posted a photo of what seems to be the first-ever Tesla Model Y police car of the St. Gallen police department.

Tesla North noted in the same report that the city of St. Gallen is located in the northeast of Switzerland, which is only one hour away from the largest city in the country, Zurich. It is also near the border of the Swiss territory and Austria.

The Model Y police car flaunts its bright orange decals, which also identifies it as the vehicle of the "Polizei," the Swiss term for the police. The rest of the vehicle is painted in white color. It also has a siren provision stuffed on top of its roof.

Gallen Police Dept. Electrification

According to a news release of Hyundai, the police department of St. Gallen in Switzerland initially purchased a total of 13 new Kona EVs to electrify its existing patrol fleet.

That said, the all-new Tesla Model Y police car is joining the Hyundai Kona EV in the growing electric fleet of the city police.

It is interesting to point out that the flagship sedan of Tesla, the Model 3, was also heralded as the best-selling car in Switzerland in 2021.
