6G connectivity is still an idea since the fastest internet connection feature remains 5G.
However, this could soon change as South Korea announced that it will soon offer this fast connectivity as mobile services around 2028.
Recent rumors claimed that 6G will not be available until 2030. But, many agencies and companies have already started testing their own versions of the connectivity tech.
One of them is China, which tested a 6G satellite equipped with a THz system.
Meanwhile, China Global and Huawei Technologies claimed that they would release new 6G sats.
6G Connectivity To Arrive Around 2028
According to News 18's latest report, South Korea is expected to commercialize 6G mobile services around 2028. The Asian country announced this detail during the Mobile World Congress 2022 event.
South Korea's Science Minister Lim Hye-Sook said that they are now preparing to launch their own 6G connectivity.
"We are continuing our preparations for the 6G era with the aim of commercializing 6G from 2028 to 2030," said the official.
Hye-Sook added that their upcoming 6G network is 50 times faster than the current internet connection services. Aside from this, Lim also claimed that the connectivity could expand up to 10 km.
What Tech Firms Will Do Once 6G Arrives
Android Central reported that Google and other tech firms already have an idea about the things they will do with 6G connectivity once it arrives.
Google, Apple, Qualcomm, and Intel are already in a trade group called NGMN. This alliance is expected to use the advanced 6G tech for the so-called "Enhanced Machine Communication" and "Enhanced Human Communication."
This means that 6G will not only lead to faster broadband services. But, it can also create advanced smart machines that can control similar equipment.
