Microsoft Edge's Secret Surfing Game: How to Access and Play It

Google Chrome users can play the dinosaur game if they do not have any internet connection. For Microsoft Edge users, they can play a different game to pass the time, and that is the SkiFree game.

SkiFree is a secret surfing game that recently got an update. It has a new coat of paint, and the villain is now a Kraken instead of a yeti. The game was first introduced in Microsoft Edge 83 and it was released in May 2020.

How to Access the Surfing Game

To access SkiFree, just type in edge://surf into the site's address bar and press Enter. The site will load immediately.

According to HowtoGeek, the edge:// part of the address is connected to the internal page that is added to the Microsoft Edge's application.

Once the site loads, you will see the select screen for the character. Use the left and right arrow keys and the space bar on your keyboard to choose a character and start playing.

How to Play Edge's Secret Surfing Game

To play the game, just use the arrow keys to control your character and the space bar to pause the game. The left and right keys of your keyboard can move the character left and right, and the up key can stop the character from surfing, and the down key resumes surfing, according to The Next Web.

To use the speed boost power-up, you can press the "f" key and get one near the beginning of the game. They are green-colored lightning bolts.

Just like in the original SkiFree game, the goal is to surf as far as you can. The game counts how far you have surfed in your current run at the top of the site's window. You will start with 3 hearts.

With every failed attempt, you will lose a heart. After all hearts are lost, your run ends and the game will show you how far you've made it.

You can play the game via a touchpad or mouse. Move your mouse cursor to control the character and double-click to activate the speed boost.

The SkiFree game has support for Xbox controllers. You can plug in an Xbox 360 controller or pair an Xbox One controller wirelessly.

You can also control SkiFree using joysticks or via d-pad, suing the A button to pause the game and the right trigger to activate the speed boost. The game supports the rumble feature on your controller.

You can choose other game modes by clicking the menu button at the upper right corner of the game. There are 3 available game modes: Let's Surf, Time Trial, and Zig Zag.

Let's Surf is the standard game mode. It lets you get as far as you can in the game. Time Trial is a mode that ends the course. It allows you to get to the end of the course as fast as possible.

Zig Zag will let you see the sea with obstacles that you need to go through. You need to get through as many as you can to finish the game.

The other features that you can use is High Visibility Mode. It lets obstacles be easier to see and a Reduced Speed Mode that slows down your surfing speed, according to Windows Latest.

You can see all of the controls in the menu, complete with explanation. Just click the menu button and choose "How to Play" to see the control for keyboard, touchpad, mouse, and game controller.

In 2016, Microsoft Edge updated its game mode to maximize its performance.

Last year, Microsoft's flight simulator got free updates courtesy of Xbox.
