The Spotify app on Android is now getting the Swipe to Queue gesture. This feature is what iOS users have had for years, and it is what Android users have been waiting for.
The Swipe to Queue gesture is seen as one of the features of Spotifythat can help make your listening experience better.
Spotify to Get Swipe to Queue Feature
According to XDA Developers, the gesture seems to be available for a few users at the moment, but users can expect roll out to exapnd over the next couple of days.
In case you missed it, Spotify users on Android have been requesting the streaming service to add support for the Swipe to Queue gesture ever since it was released for the iOS app over five years ago.
Even though Spotify said that it did not have any plans of bringing the feature over to Android in 2021, the company seems to now have changed its mind.

According to Reddit user u/Far-Contact-9369, the feature is now finally available on the Android app, allowing users to add tracks to the queue with just a simple gesture.
The feature does not seem to be available for all Android users right now. This means that Spotify is likely testing the feature with a small group of Android users first before rolling it out widely.
You can check whether the feature is available on your device or not by playing a song and then swiping right on another song. You should be able to see an Added to Queue pop-up if the gesture is live on your tablet or smartphone, according to 9to5Google.
Spotify is yet to make an announcement regarding the rollout of the gesture. People can expect more details about it once the feature rolls out widely.
Spotify Ruler Tools
The Swipe to Queue gesture comes a few weeks after Spotify open-sourced its Ruler tool to help app developers analyze their app sizes.
According to XDA Developers, when installing apps on the Google Play Store, users usually prefer smaller app sizes. That is because of limited storage space or limited download bandwidth. Some users may even prefer it this way because of they just prefer a faster install.
Nevertheless, Spotify's Ruler tool is used to measure and analyze the size of the Android apps for the purposes of figuring out how to shrink them down. Now, the company is making that tool open-source and free to use for any developer that wants to use it.
The apps published on the Google Play Store are now uploaded in the form of an Android App Bundle. When a user requests an app for installation, the Google Play Store then generates an optimized APK for the end-user that is installing the app.
Spotify's Ruler mimics this process to create an APK accurate to what the end-user should get. For each file, Spotify Ruler then captures two measurements.
The first one is the download size, wherein bytes transferred over the network when a user downloads the app, and the second one is called install size, wherein bytes a file takes up on the device once the app has been installed.
Spotify Ruler can scan through the app and find the list of files inside their sizes. It can also find all of the Gradle modules and dependencies that contribute to the size of the app.
Aside from Spotify Ruler and Swipe to Queue, Spotify also launched the Live Lyrics feature so you can sing along to your favorite songs.
