Google Announces Office Return Date: Apple to Follow?

Google has just announced the company's official return-to-office date will be on April 4. Employees who are currently located in the Bay Area will be asked to return to office along with other employees coming from other locations across the United States.

Google Gives Employees an Official Return Date

According to the report by CNBC, April 4 is the official return date for Google employees in different locations in the country. Both Google and Apple have locations in Santa Clara County, where different COVID-related restrictions have been lifted due to infection rates significantly dropping.

Indoor mask mandate has also just recently ended, which now paves the way for Google to ask its workers to return to work in their physical locations, per the official announcement.

According to the story by MacRumors, with cases starting to drop and Google now calling employees to return to the office, there is also a chance that Apple will be doing the same in the "near future."

Apple Eager to Get Employees Back In-Office

Apple has been quite eager when it comes to getting employees back to the 1 Infinite Loop, Apple Park, and other offices located in the Bay Area. There has, however, been push backs on previous return dates that were previously announced.

The company initially told its employees back in November that they wanted them to return back to the office in February. With December seeing a surge in the Omicron variant, Apple eventually decided to delay the return of its employees indefinitely.

Apple Promises One Month Notice Before In-Office Return Date

Apple has given employees a promise of at least a one month notice before they will be required to go back to work in-office. The company is also going to implement a new type of hybrid work schedule when that happens.

For three days a week, employees will all be expected to work back in the office while being given the option to work from home for the other two days of the week. Apple is also allowing its employees to decide to work remotely for "up to one month a year, which will give them more time to travel or even be closer with their family and friends.

Apple Employees Request to Work from Home

Over the course of the last two years, different tech company employees have started to get used to working from home. According to MacRumors, there has been different pushbacks coming from Apple workers who reportedly "do not want to do their jobs in person."

This is especially the case after fellow tech giant Amazon has successfully launched different products, services, and even software updates despite a lot of employees still working from home.

Apple employees have even sent letters to the company in order to plead for them to be given the ability to work permanently from home. Despite the letters from employees, Apple, however, still prefers for their employees to return to their offices at the right time.
