Google Pixel's new Fast Emergency Dialer feature is rolling out to some owners. But, it seems like not all users will find it very useful.
The giant tech manufacturer started working on this advanced app feature back in 2021. It was supposed to be a more efficient version of the Traditional Emergency Dialer (TED) call screen.
Right now, TED is still used by many smartphone brands. It allows people to contact emergency responders without opening their devices.
But, an issue is still experienced since not all people know the exact emergency contact numbers they need to call.
Google Pixel Fast Emergency Dialer
According to XDA Developers' latest report, Google Pixel's new Fast Emergency Dialer also works like TED. However, unlike the conventional version, this new model offers emergency contacts.
Android Police reported that the Fast Emergency Dialer has already started to roll out. However, it is still not available to all Pixel smartphone owners.
Although this is the case, some leakers could access the new feature. They discovered that people could use it by swiping up their lock screens.
After that, they need to click the Emergency Call option. Then, the available contact lists will appear on their handsets' screens, allowing them to contact the needed responders.
Not Everyone Will Benefit
The new Google Fast Emergency Dialer will provide almost all the emergency contact numbers in your area or country. For example, Brazilians will have separate numbers, police, and medical emergency responders for their fires.
The contact numbers will vary depending on the place you are living in. However, some rumors claimed that the only emergency number available in the United States is 911.
This means that residents in the U.S. will not really benefit from the new Fast Emergency Dialer feature. If you are one of the interested users, the best thing you can do right now is to wait for the complete launch before making any conclusion.
In other news, Microsoft Teams recently suffered from the annoying Google Pixel 911 call bug. Meanwhile, non-Pixel smartphones have already received the Google Photos Folder feature.
