The social media tech giant said that its recent move is just one of the numerous steps that it is implementing, which seeks to further prevent the spread of misinformation that could drastically be sensitive to the ongoing conflict.

Twitter Pause Ads, Recommendations on Ukraine and Russia

As per a news story by Engadget, Twitter announced that it is "temporarily pausing advertisements in Ukraine and Russia."

The tech giant explained that temporarily halting ads services on the two conflicting nations would not interfere with the "critical public safety information."

Engadget noted that Twitter also shared its announcement in Ukrainian.

On top of that, the social media giant is also pausing its tweet recommendations functionalities, which shows posts from accounts that its users do not follow.

This move, on the other hand, is meant to minimize helping abusive content to be spread throughout the platform.

Both measures from Twitter in both Ukraine and Russia seek to reduce both the spread of misleading and abusive tweets. However, it is worth noting that the tech giant did not indicate how long will both ads and tweet recommendations be turned off.

Twitter and Russia, Ukraine Conflict

According to a recent report by Bloomberg, the San Francisco-based tech giant previously stated that it is closely monitoring any problematic content associated with the Ukraine conflict that would violate the terms of use on the platform, known as Twitter Rules.

Twitter said that it includes both "identifying and disrupting attempts to amplify false and misleading information."

What's more, the microblogging platform also suggested its users to check out both their Moments and Events content, which were created by the editorial team of Twitter, to provide accurate information regarding the ongoing conflict.

Engadget noted in the same report that researchers and experts have initially warned that both misinformation and disinformation are about to fill up the feeds of social media apps amid the ongoing war.

Meanwhile, Twitter is also looking into various high-profile accounts on its platforms to prevent any hacking incidents.

The social network is also checking out the "vulnerable high profile accounts" on Twitter, which includes government officials, government agencies, activists, and journalists.
