Apple patents a Magic Keyboard that features a Mac computer inside its compact and slim body, allowing its users to run macOS portably.
Apple Patents Magic Keyboard with Mac
As per a news story by Tom's Hardware, Apple has recently filed a patent to the United States Patent and Trademark Office of the USPTO for a keyboard that sports a built-in computer, ready to plug into any external display.
The new computer concept that the Cupertino tech giant appears to be working on wants to introduce a portable computer, adding to the desktop and laptop options nowadays.
Essentially, it would resemble a laptop in terms of its compact and portable design. However, it would not sport a built-in display and a folding mechanism, which is found on Apple's MacBooks.
Instead, it works more like the Mac Mini, which could be plugged into an external monitor. However, the new concept is an actual keyboard, so you'll only need a mouse or trackpad and monitor or TV.
On top of that, according to a recent report by 9to5Mac, the new concept of Apple is unlike the Mac Mini as it is a standalone device, which is more like a laptop that no longer requires any cable to run.
It is worth noting, though, that the iPhone maker has filed its Magic Keyboard concept to the US Patent Office way back in August 2020. However, the patent filing was only published by the office this week.
Apple's Magic Keyboard with Built-in Mac: What to Expect
The patent drawings suggest that the new computer concept carries the current design that the Magic Keyboard flaunts.
Tom's Hardware noted that there is a single cable provision for all sorts of things, such as an external display, plugging third-party storage, and power.
What's more, the patent filing of Apple suggests that the Magic Keyboard with Mac sports an active fan along with a body that could efficiently be thermally conductive to avoid heating.
That said, the new computer concept could likely be a powerful machine as some M1 MacBooks do not have any active fans but already performed impressively.

Although it is confirmed that Apple has filed a patent for its new portable computer concept on the USPTO, it does not automatically mean that it is seeing the light of day as an actual product.
It is to note that some patent filings do not become a reality and forever stay a concept.
