Valve Steam Deck Launch Revealed: Payment for Pre-Orders to Start Soon

Since no followup to the Nintendo Switch can be seen aside from the Nintendo Switch Lite, gamers have been looking towards another handheld gaming device by Valve. It is none other than the Steam Deck, which is expected to launch soon.

In fact, Valve has finall6 announced the official Steam Deck release date, which is said to be scheduled before the end of the first quarter of this year.

Valve to Officially Launch the Steam Deck in a Few Days

According to the story by Slash Gear, gamers are just a few days away from the official launch of the Steam Deck. As of press time, a number of people that have already put in their pre-orders and are wondering when the official launch day will be.

Valve has finally announced to its customers that they can expect the date to be on Feb. 25 "and beyond."

This announcement is more likely geared towards those customers that were lucky enough to pay for their Steam Deck right away.

Will the Steam Deck's Dock Launch Along with the Handheld Gaming Device?

In addition to the launch date details, the company also disclosed new information regarding the Steam Deck's dock accessory, which was initially revealed along with the portable console in 2021.

Details, as of writing, are few, but the company gave an update that the dock sadly will not be available in time for the initial Steam Deck launch.

In addition, Steam announced that Valve will not start sending emails to the customers that were able to pre-order the Steam Deck until Feb. 25 at 10 a.m. PST or 1 p.m. EST.

Payment for the Steam Deck for Pre-Orders Lasts for Just 72 Hours

The company will reportedly start emailing customers that were able to reserve the Steam Deck to confirm their reservations. Once customers receive their email, they will only have 72 hours to pay for the reserved Steam Deck.

Buyers can still opt to cancel the order by simply ignoring the email as it will auto-cancel once the 72-hour time frame lapses. Once certain reservations are canceled, the slots will then be given to those next in line.

Steam Deck Release Date Expected Before the End of Q1

This means that even if the Steam Deck page on the official Steam Store shows that the machine will not cme out until some time later in Q1, buyers should still keep an eye on their inboxes just in case another participant cancels.

Should the second round of buyers cancel as well, the slots will then be given to the next round and so on. Valve also notes that the "full Steam Deck reviews" are expected to go live on Friday for gamers and interested buyers to check and see if the handheld gaming device by Valve is really worth it.
