Amazon combines two of its top focuses on games, including the Luna cloud gaming service and the Twitch streaming platform for the "Play on Luna" venture. The "Play on Luna" button allows gamers to go directly from a discovered game on Twitch's platform to the cloud gaming service and enjoy a seamless experience.
Amazon 'Play on Luna' Button is Now on Twitch for Accessibility
Amazon launched its "Play on Luna" button that is now on Twitch for accessibility purposes that will help bring a user from platform to platform. The discovery came from a YouTuber called "Vet Cloud Gaming," which saw this as early as February 11.
The idea here is that users watching a Twitch stream will have the chance to click a button and go directly to the game via Amazon Luna to try it out. However, the game will only work if it is available on Luna.
Twitch's accessibility offer will give gamers and fans a chance to view the game's landing page and have the button available if that specific title is on Luna. The game would launch without the need to purchase or download it, provided that one has a Luna subscription active for Amazon Prime, one of the requirements here.
Amazon 'Play on Luna': How Does it Work?
Amazon said that the "Play on Luna" feature would only work if users have an active Twitch account that they will use here. Next is that gamers would need to seamlessly link their Luna and Twitch accounts to launch from one app to another.
Another requirement here is an active subscription on one's Luna account. Moreover, users would need to go to the game's Twitch page and not the streaming page only to access the said button.
Amazon Luna and Twitch
Amazon Luna launched on October 2020 for the iPhone's iOS platform before it went to Google's Android last December 2020 to bring gamers a chance to experience the cloud gaming experience. The feature tied in with Amazon's Prime subscription will give users a chance to enjoy cloud gaming without the need to download it.
On the other hand, Twitch has been a platform available for a long time, mainly focusing on gaming streams or showcases before it became a thing. Amazon acquired the company and gave it another home within its tutelage that brings different opportunities to its website compared to what its makers initially planned.
Combining both is massive, but gamers already expected that both lean on gaming as one of their primary purposes.
Amazon made sure to utilize its platform well, including this move to integrate Luna with Twitch, both being inclined to the gaming world for people to use. The "Play on Luna" button aims to integrate a seamless switch from one platform to another, especially if one discovers the game on Twitch and immediately wants to try it out.
