Robot dogs will soon patrol the U.S.-Mexico border. However, the Department of Homeland Security officials clarified that these machines would not invade the area.
As of the moment, this place is still not good for the well-being of people because of the rising temperature and other harsh conditions.
Now, the new robot dogs are expected to be the replacements for the human patrols on the border. However, the exact deployment of these surveillance vehicles is still unknown.
Robot Dogs To Patrol US-Mexico Border
According to Business Insider's latest report, the Department of Homeland Security released some images showing that the unmanned surveillance machines are already under development.

This means that they are real and will soon be deployed at the border separating the United States and Mexico.
"The southern border can be an inhospitable place for man and beast, and that is exactly why a machine may excel there," said DHS S&T's Directorate Program Manager Brenda Long.
The new robot dogs are currently being developed by Ghost Robotics. The company's CEO said that they are doing the right thing and that people on the border have nothing to worry about.
Benefits of the New Robo-Dogs
CNN reported that the machines are currently tested in the U.S.-Mexico border. In the images published by DHS, the robots can be seen climbing over harsh terrain and doing other activities.
Because they are quite efficient, DHS officials said that they are a force multiplier, adding that these new robot dogs can enhance Border Patrol agents. But, their efficiency will still depend on the final results of their current tests.
