Rapper and hip-hop artist now known as "Ye" (formerly Kanye West) announced via his Instagram page that his next album, "Donda 2," will be exclusive to his platform called the "Stem Player." The singer and songwriter would not be releasing any of his songs via the popular streaming platforms now, including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Prime Music, and more.
'Ye's' 'Donda 2' to Release on Stem Player Only, No Digital Releases
In his post via Instagram, Kanye West confirmed that "Donda 2" will not release on any digital music platforms like Apple Music, Amazon Prime, Spotify, and others. "Ye," said that he will only release the music via the "Stem Player," a device that will cost $200 on its release date with no openings of discs despite looking like a CD player.
The device is now available for pre-order via his Stem Player website for the United States, United Kingdom, and other parts of the world. The Stem Player will be a unique device that can store and play songs, like a speaker that can keep music within its body.
Ye's Stem Player would have onboard memory and speaker capabilities, but it is unknown if it can connect to Bluetooth. It will charge via a USB-C charging port.
2021's "Donda" will also come pre-installed on the device.

Is Kanye West Boycotting Music Streaming Platforms?
The announcement is a surprise for all fans of the rapper because he has brought his music to different streaming platforms since the beginning. The rise of streaming and digital media brought Ye's music available to his fans and listeners without purchasing separate hardware for their needs.
Despite having no issues with streaming platforms, Kanye West is somehow boycotting it to focus on "real" objects like his Stem Player. There is no news for any pullout of his music on the digital streams.
Kanye West: Not Believing in NFTs, Digital Release
"Ye" is the type of artist that moves away from the modern niceties in life and wants the old-fashioned way of looking at things. He previously announced his skepticism of NFTs, cryptocurrencies, and other digital art forms in the industry, wanting something more tangible.
That only means that "Ye" will build outside the latest global trend.
However, there was one time that Kanye West wanted to launch a new platform with a pitch that he intended for the digital world, focusing on "JesusTok" or the Christian version of TikTok. The religious platform would be for kids like his daughter, North West, who already use smartphones and venture into social media.
The rapper saw the dangers and lewd things on the platform that were unsafe for North.
West brings a lot of different things with his career as a musician and Hollywood personality, apart from the many controversies and issues that he faces.
Nevertheless, his vision for himself, as "Yeezus," is to bring his music to another platform that will get people something real in this digital world via the Stem Player.
